Dell unveils zero client hardware for enterprises

The device is based on PC Power IP technology and has enough memory to boot without any disk drive

New Delhi: Dell has launched its first zero client device for enterprises. According to the company, its existing FX100, through a firmware upgrade, will now supports the new VMware View 4.0 app and its PC-over-IP streaming technology. The device is based on PC Power IP technology and claims to offer rich multimedia support and faster responsiveness than other virtualisation and streaming codecs.

According to the company, the device has no CPU and no hard disk drive, and only enough memory to boot the device. Enables zero clients to draw less power and be more secure and less prone to hardware failure than thin clients or traditional "fat client" desktop PCs converted over to VDI use.

The devices price starts at $500 per device and is expected to hit the India market by the end of May this year.
