Maharashtra Sales Tax Department (MSTD) has partnered with SAS, the leader in business analytics software and services, to identify and minimise revenue loss through tax evasion.
MSTD contributes to approximately two-thirds of the total revenue of the State Government and has a strong workforce of 11,000 professionals. With the deployment of SAS analytics solutions, MSTD will leverage data-driven decision making in devising policies to maximise tax collection through universal coverage of all eligible taxpayers. SAS business intelligence solutions will enable decision support and resource optimisation across various divisions of MSTD. The department, after the successful implementation of analytics solutions, hopes to curb practices of evasion and suppression activities performed by fraudulent dealers.
