Produced by Warner Bros and directed by Hollywood director McG, Aim High is aimed at teens and potentially marks a major step in Facebook's evolution towards major player status in the entertainment business. The main star of the series is the Twilight sensation, Jackson Rathbone, who is playing the role Nick Green, a high schooler who leads a double life as a spy. Friday Night Lights Aimee Teegarden will also star in the series.
Nick Green is just starting a new school year as one of the countrys 64 highly trained teenage operatives, where he is also dreaming of Amanda Miles, the most popular girl in school. Amanda mercilessly flirts with Nick, but she has an overly protective boyfriend named Derek who threatens Nick for even looking at her.
However, the most innovative and interactive part of the show consists of the fact that Facebook users can star in the show using the Aim High app. Those users who have chosen to install the Aim High app are being given the chance to watch episodes in a personalised mode. This means that the app will gather photos, wall postings, and music favourites from their wall and use them in the show.
The press release from Warner Brothers says:
By choosing to watch Aim High in a personalized viewing mode through the shows Facebook page, viewers will be able to see themselves or their friends integrated into select scenes throughout the series from their photo appearing on a student body election poster, to having their name seen as graffiti on the bathroom wall. This video application not only allows consumers to have an immersive and engaging viewing experience, but also a social one where they can share comments, scenes and Tweets about their favourite moments from the show.
The first episode of Aim High series will air on October 18 over on the official Facebook Page. McG, who directed Charlies Angels and Terminator Salvation, said, The show becomes personal. Music that the characters are listening to comes from your playlist, pictures on the walls, TV screens and picture frames inside the show are from your profile. Warner Brother is said to be planning more series that will exploit Facebook data in future.
