Oracle has launched the Oracle Network Applications Platform, its first industry-specific engineered system, designed to meet the extreme network workload requirements for the development and deployment of mission-critical communications services and applications.
The communications industry is experiencing rapid mobile broadband network growth, a proliferation of smart connected devices and intensifying competition. To compete with disruptive competitors such as Over-the-Top providers network equipment providers (NEPs) and communications service providers (CSPs) must innovate faster and at a lower cost.
Traditionally, NEPs and CSPs have spent months and the majority of their development budgets on integrating, testing and managing diverse platform components from multiple vendors. NEPs and CSPs must then make significant additional investments to ensure that the applications they build on top of these platforms meet carrier-grade performance requirements.
Today, by standardizing the pre-configured, integrated and tested Oracle Network Applications Platform, which can deliver up to seven 9s (99.99999%) service availability and unified platform management, companies can:
- Reduce platform integration and testing costs by up to 33% and operational costs up to 64%;
- Accelerate time-to market of new services by up to 40%; and
- Shift highly-skilled resources to focus on innovation, with up to 50% savings from application lifecycle spend
