A2Z Group, a diversified company with interests in clean technology, energy and infrastructure management, and Dataserv Group, a global organization specializing in the reuse, environmentally-secure ethical breakdown, and recycling of e-Waste, have formed a joint venture company in India, A2Z Dataserv Limited.
A2Z Dataserv will operate under the brand name weensure and provide environmentally responsive recovery and disposal of IT assets in India while leveraging the best of technology, capabilities and manpower of both the partners. The company also unveiled its plans of setting up a state-of-the-art plant and facility at Sohna in Gurgaon, with an initial investment of Rs. 20 crores. The plant is equipped to handle e-waste up to 10,000 tons per annum.
Speaking on the occasion, Amit Sardana, Managing Director, A2Z Dataserv Limited, said, With the growth in the IT sector in India, responsible and secure disposal of IT assets has been a cause for concern for a long time. Currently, only 5% of the e-waste generated in India is recycled, and this is way below the global standards. At weensure, we would strive to provide an effective and efficient solution, for securely and responsibly recycling and managing the ever-growing electronic and electrical waste generated in the country.
Thomas Holberg, Group Director, Dataserv Group Holdings Limited, said, We are proud to partner with the A2Z Group for this initiative, and are confident that together we would be able to make a difference towards responsibly managing electronic and electrical waste in an environment friendly manner.
Globally, the e-waste volume is growing rapidly, up to 2-3 times faster than any other waste stream. The global usage of consumer electronics is increasing at the rate of more than 6% annually. The worldwide market for e-waste materials is expected to increase to nearly USD 116 billion in 2014 at a 5 year compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.9%.
