Qlik announced that Thangamayil Jewellery (Thangamayil), a leading retail chain in India with 30 stores across several districts of Tamil Nadu, is using the QlikView Business Discovery platform. Thangamayil is monitoring all its inventory in order to better manage stock levels, and as a result has reduced operating costs by 55 percent.
For a jewellery retailer like Thangamayil, the abilities to monitor 40 million records of inventory across all its stores, reduce stock levels to improve profitability, and provide better customer satisfaction, are key business priorities.
However the company previously struggled to perform in these areas with manual reporting systems and Excel – which did not allow users to directly explore the data easily, identify success patterns and gaps, and make the right decisions. To overcome these challenges, Thangamayil implemented QlikView to enable users to explore inventory data in near real time, resulting in timely stock replenishments based on actual product sales. QlikView also allowed Thangamayil to create accurate budget forecasting in order to make better and more objective decisions for the business.
“Previously, we had no real insight and could only look at data of three to five showrooms at a time and our business was suffering. The complete return on investment in just one year with QlikView is amazing,” said Yadeenthra Nathan SK, Executive Information Officer, Thangamayil. “Using the budget management dashboards in QlikView, we’ve managed to reduce our costs across all stores by 55 percent. This has been especially important in a year when trade of gold has been dropping due to government restrictions inIndia, and we’ve been able to transfer these savings into reduced prices for our customers.”
Working with Qlik, the IT team at Thangamayil has created multiple QlikView applications for its employees ranging from senior management and operations to inventory control as well as sales and purchasing. Additionally, QlikView has helped Thangamayil from a human resources perspective.
Phillip Beniac, Regional Vice President of Qlik, Asia Pacific and Japan, said: “We are pleased that Thangamayil is using QlikView across its organization from a 360 degree perspective – from inventory management, to budgeting, down to human resources, and soon across different devices..”
