Bigger the organisation, wider the scope of remuneration hike of IT Managers. Well, that’s what the belief is widely in the industry but not what the findings of the ITNext IT manager salary survey reveals.
The elaborate survey suggests that organisation size (in terms of turnover) does not matter much when it comes to compensation.
Organisations with a turnover of more than Rs. 10000 crore pay about 4.4 per cent of its IT managers a hefty packet of Rs. 41 lakhs or more, whereas the majority of IT managers in organisations with a similar turnover get Rs. 11-20 Lakhs per annum.

IT Next embarked on this salary survey to discover factors that get people desired remuneration and the trend in the industry around the compensation of mid-to-senior-level IT managers
The story is the same across organisation sizes. Companies with a turnover of Rs. 2001-10000 crore pay 11-20 lakhs of annual salary to 44.4 per cent of IT managers and 52.4 per cent of ITDMs in firms with a turnover between 1001-2000 crore are paid a similar package.

Arup Banik, Asst Vice President - Corporate IT, EIH says, “There is always a moderate compensation imbalance in the industry.2.7 per cent of Senior IT managers in medium firms with a turnover of Rs. 501-1000 crore get the highest package of Rs.41 lakhs and more; and the same percentage of managers earn Rs. 31-40 lakhs.
There are many factors to it, for example, size and type of company (Private ltd, Public Ltd, Multinational, etc), Financial and Operational matrix, geographic footprint of the organization, area of operation & IT scope, type of technology the company has adopted and budgets etc. Companies which are aggressive in their growth will pay more.”
