Do IT Managers' Compensation Tally with Their Experience?

Neither the experience nor the company size do matter much when it comes to IT Managers' compensation

IT Next Salary Survey revealed that compensation doesn’t  necessarily depend on the years of experience of the IT  managers.

About 43 per cent of the participants in the experience  bracket of 5-10 years take home a salary of less than 10 lakhs  while 47.7 per cent are compensated with a packet of 11 to 20  lakhs INR.

With a total of 18 years of experience in the industry, I think I should be compensated by at least 30% more to meet the industry standards --Santosh Kempaiah, Sr Manager, Information Security, Volvo IT

At the senior level, 71.4 per cent of IT managers with an  experience of 31-35 years, quite surprisingly, get a lower packet  of 11-20 lakhs p.a., while 28.6 per cent with a similar experience  take home 21-30 Lakhs INR.

Not a single respondent in the same  experience bracket gets a salary above 41 Lakhs.

The highest package (41 Lakhs INR and more) is grabbed by  11.4 per cent of the participants in the experience bracket of 16 to  20 years, while it’s 6.1 per cent and 8.3 per cent in the experience  bracket of 21-25 years and 26-30 years respectively.

The findings of the IT Next’s IT manager salary survey reveal  that organisation size (in terms of turnover) does not matter  much when it comes to compensation.

Organisation size (in terms of turnover) does not matter  much when it comes to compensation.
