IT Fraternity Looks For Strong e-Governance from AAP Govt.

Aggressive approach towards e-governance, eliminating red-tapism and encouraging IT companies to invest in Delhi is something IT professionals look forward to

It’s indeed a landmark twist in Indian politics when Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal won 28 seats in Delhi assembly elections. Many rubbished him saying he is more of a rhetoric and realism, more of an activist than a politician. But now, such criticisms have been put to silence with AAP not only winning 28 seats but forming the AAP Government with the support of Congress.

Their sloganeering against corruption has shifted from roads, Ram Lila Maidan to the assembly now. So, it’s no more Arvind, the activist. Now, he is Chief Minister and his policies have to be looked into by industries like IT.

Ashish Khanna says, “I believe it will open up lot of new opportunities for IT vendors as I see more and more government agencies will go online with a very tight governance framework around. This would mean more opportunities for SI’s on integration, automation and enablement of every government / public sectors online.”

Like Khanna, there are other IT professionals who would believe that Kejriwal will go aggressive on e-governance framework around the whole tendering, bidding and even the public offerings given by government agencies to the common people like - Passport, License, Home Registration etc.

Lalit Kumar, Senior Manager - Information Technology, JBM Group says, “Cloud implementation of various Government processes will help people. It also brings in a great deal of transparency in terms of processes. E-governance is a must do but it just doesn’t stop there. There should be infrastructure and system in place to monitor and manage the e-governance portal rather than running it just for the sake of it.”

Khanna  adds, “Enablement of web based access to all data will bring lot of transparency which is what his government’s core agenda is and this can only be done through using more and more IT tools. While AAP Government can take lot of initiatives to specifically boost the IT sector but whether it does that or not currently, it has certainly raised lot of expectation in a common man mind and I am sure it will be an interesting phase in our lives to see a very different phase of democracy.”

Vikas Jain, Senior Manager –IT, Ernst & Young expects AAP Government to focus on the growth of IT industry inDelhi.

Jain says, “The IT and BPO companies, largely, have moved to either Noida or Gurgaon. AAP Government needs to promote Delhi as IT Hub as well. Apart form this, e-Governance should definitely be one of the key areas for this new government to focus on.”
