HP unveils enterprise technology solutions

The retail technologies included touch-enabled personal computers, point-of-sale systems, and LCD digital signages

New Delhi: Global IT major HP on Tuesday unveiled technology solutions for the retail sector and small and medium businesses, designed to cut costs and enhance customer experience.

The retail technologies launched here include touch-enabled personal computers, point-of-sale systems, and LCD digital signages with an interactive display.

"In-store technology solutions have the potential to transform the retail sector in 2010," Vice President of the mobile business unit in the company's Asia Pacific region Chua Hwee Koon said.

HP is also currently testing a giant interactive touch screen wall that reduced the potential for damage by interpreting gestures without the requirement of direct touch.

The state-of-the-art screen will enable customers in a shop try on clothes virtually by dragging different sizes and styles onto a life-size three dimensional image of themselves.

The global IT giant also showcased products and solutions targeted at the small and medium sized businesses in India, including affordable high definition video-conferencing software that allows live, real-time connectivity for face-to-face meetings.

The small and medium sized businesses account for 30 per cent of the total commercial IT spend in India.
