Gujarat power co. achieves operational efficiency with ERP

Bhavnagar Energy Company has deployed SAP ERP on Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise; project to go live in 6 months

SAP has announced that Bhavnagar Energy Company Limited (BECL) has selected SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) running on Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE).

BECL will get a streamlined end-to-end experience, from integrated product experience to customer service, support and lifecycle management with SAP Business Suite application on Sybase ASE.

BECL is one of Gujarats major state power generation companies, and its manual processes of managing data across various departments resulted in inefficiencies in the areas of procurement, accounts payable and contract management. SAP ERP on Sybase ASE is aimed at supporting BECL to manage resources efficiently and achieve greater transparency across the organization. The project is expected to go live within 6 months and is being implemented by IBM with Gujarat Info Petro Limited.

SAP ERP on Sybase ASE will help BECL improve response time, manage data flow effectively and enable better decision making which in turn will enhance productivity and efficiency, said Nayab Hussain Pathan - IT Head, BECL.

Public sector companies in India are realizing the benefits of process optimization across departments and need for better database management to improve operational efficiency and reduce overall costs, said Mathew Thomas, Vice President Strategic Industries, SAP India. "SAP ERP on Sybase ASE at BECL will serve as a single source for acquisition, management and maintenance of information across the organization and enable them to execute and optimize their IT and business strategies.
