Google's freebie to Indian SMBs: A website

The search giant's offer also includes domain and hosting services

Under its 'India, Get Your Business Online' programme, Google is providing Indian businesses tools and resources to establish a website, find new customers, and grow their businesses.

According to a report published on EconomicTimes.com, Google has promised it will take just 15 minutes for the website from sitting down to being found online.

Quoting a blog entry by Rajan Anandan, MD & Vice President, Sales & Operations, Google India, it says: "The initiative aims to break down the barriers that stop small businesses from getting online - by offering a quick, easy and free tool to set up and host a website. Our goal is to help 500,000 small [and] medium businesses in India to get online in the next three years through this programme, with our partner HostGator."

Indian SMEs can register at www.indiagetonline.in and get their free domain. They would need to furnish an ID document, either a Permanant Account Number (PAN), or Tax Deduction Account Number (TAN) or a Corporate Identify Number (CIN).
