An aggressive pricing strategy from players like Amazon is needed to end Apples dominance in the Tablet PC space.

According to the industry blog, TechCrunch, Amazon plans to unveil a cheaper, smaller $250 rival to Apple Inc's iPad Tablet PC in November. The cheapest iPad you can buy today costs around $499, so in comparison price of Amazons device seems quite attractive. It costs almost 50 percent less.

In a significant departure from the path that the other Android Tablets have taken, Amazons Tablet is not going to be a do all machine. It is more of a new and improved Kindle, its name will also imply the same thing. Simplicity and usability are the main features of the device, whose main aim is to give users a seamless experience with books, movies and other media.

With a backlit 7-inch screen, the device is smaller than an iPad, but it is of the same size as RIMs PlayBook. It has been designed to play music and movies off the Internet.

Analysts like Forrester Research have been upbeat on Amazon's gadget, particularly if it beats the iPad on price. Forrester Research has estimated that Amazon may sell as many as 5 million Tablets in the fourth quarter, becoming the top rival to Apple. Apple sells between 7 to 9 million tablets a quarter.

TechCrunch has also said that the upcoming tablet, running an operating system developed from an older version of Android, is going to be WiFi only. It will have a colour touchscreen but a limited 6GB of memory. Amazon may launch a 10-inch Tablet after studying the response to the 7-inch device.
