Epic contest between Google Nexus Prime & iPhone 5

With both iPhone 5 and Googles Nexus Prime being set for October launch, an epic battle of smartphones is likely.

Earlier some analysts had been predicting that iPhone 5 will launch in September, but now it seems that the device will hit the market in October. That is the same month when Google is expected to come out with the much anticipated sequel to its first Nexus phone. It is possible that the launch of the new Android phone might be held simultaneously with the announcement of the new version of Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

The Nexus Prime is going to be the first Android smartphone to run Ice Cream Sandwich. According to reports, Samsung is building the device. The Nexus Prime is expected to have a 1.5GHz dual-core processor at its heart when it launches in October. The current model, the Nexus S, features a single core, 1GHz processor. It is highly likely that the display will be upgraded to 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED HD screen.

As the Ice Cream Sandwich OS is going to merge the main version of Android with Honeycomb, which is the version adapted for tablets, it is being speculated that the Nexus Prime may do away with hardware buttons such as home and back found on smartphones. There is going to be an eight megapixel camera according to some reports. On the whole the Nexus Prime seems like a fit candidate to enter into a battle with iPhone 5.

One thing is for sure in October we are going to have to-the-minute reports of which handset is selling faster than the other.
