There is no dearth of companies, which aspire to launch a proverbial iPad killer, but till now none of them have succeeded. Where many established players have failed, perhaps an unknown and rather mysterious company might succeed. We are talking about TabCo, about which not much is known. The name TabCo obviously stands for Tablet Company; that is what the companys About Us page claims.
The blogsphere is rife with speculation about the ownership pattern of TabCo. It has even been suggested that Nokia might be the real owner. The names of Microsoft, HP and Motorola have also cropped up. To generate buzz, TabCo has been releasing a slew of videos showing the best aspects of its upcoming tablet. The videos on YouTube send the impression that this could be a product that is wholly different and more cool than any other tablet in the market today, including the iPad2.
So just what does TabCo have up its sleeve? We still cant say that for sure, because the company is being completely secretive about the features that its tablet will have. However, from the videos it can be made out that the TabCo tablet will have many of the usual features, including WiFi and optional 3G connectivity, support for Bluetooth and USB, as well as its own suite of apps for editing and viewing documents, photos and videos.
Some websites have also reported that the tablet could have what is known as a predictive user interface, which is capable of anticipating users needs to help perform tasks such as Web searches, buying products or getting directions. Anyway, we are going to get a peek into the tablet on 15th August, the date on which the company has promised to unveil the product to the world.
