Is Vibes the name of Facebooks music service?

After successfully launching a video chat service, now Facebook seems set to bring out a music service.

Jeff Rose, a software developer and researcher, has found evidence for what seems like an unannounced Facebook music service going by the name of Vibes. He examined the code after the launch of the Facebook video chat service and he discovered references to features called Peep for video calling, and also to Vibes.

In his blog (http://lifeisagraph.com/2011/07/04/facebook-vibes.html), he writes: "The video chat plugin, called peep, is what is downloaded now. At some point in the future they seem to be prepared to download another app though, called Facebook Vibes. I searched around to see what this is all about, and it seems that this is an unannounced feature that has yet to be released. The vibes app connects with a music download dialog in the page though, so Im guessing that with this release we are seeing the seeds for Facebooks upcoming music offering."

However, we already know that the Facebook video chat service is not known as Peep, so the music service, whenever it is launched, might not be known as Vibes. There were some reports earlier this year that Facebook will shortly announce a tie-up with Spotify, a music service.
