When you are 17-year-old teenager, it is easy to be impetuous. But selling a kidney in exchange for an iPad 2 is the height of impetuousness. This is a sad story, but the kid called Zheng from Huaishan City in China was really desperate to have an iPad 2, only he could not afford it. The Shenghai Daily quotes him as saying, I wanted to buy an iPad 2, but could not afford it. A broker contacted me on the Internet and said he could help me sell one kidney for 20,000 yuan.
So the kid went to Chenzhou City in neighbouring Hunan Province on April 28. There he met the broker, who arranged for the kidney removal surgery. The boys parents knew nothing about it. His mother came to know only when he returned home, looking really sick. The cops were informed, but the broker is yet to be traced. 20,000 yuan is equivalent to $3000, so the boy actually got much more than an iPad 2. Only problem is that now his health has started deteriorating very fast. Zheng regrets his decision. He hopes that the cops will able to get the crucial part of his body back.
During the course of investigation it has also come out that the hospital where Zheng had stayed was not qualified for performing a kidney removal surgery. All of us love our iPad 2, but hardly anyone would think about giving a kidney for the device.
