LinkedIn, the popular professional networking site, has unveiled a social news aggregator service called LinkedIn Today.

Aggregating news from all over the internet, the LinkedIn Today service will also be able to filter and suggest articles tailored to the users interests and industry.

The reason it can be defined as a social news aggregator is because the service also recommends articles that a users connections are reading and sharing, as well as articles from peers and contacts from broader professional network.

Speaking on the occasion of the launch, LinkedIns Senior VP of Product and User Experience, Deep Nishar, "LinkedIn Today provides members with a quick and easy way to digest trending news gleaned from the collective wisdom of 90 million professionals - what theyre reading, what theyre sharing and what theyre saying.

Adding to that, Liz Reaves Walker, Senior Product Manager at LinkedIn, commented, "You know and trust most of your connections and coworkers, so if they share an article, it's a good sign that it's something that will probably be of interest to you. By looking at the news articles being shared across your network and who is sharing it, we can highlight the top stories you should be paying attention to."
