New Delhi: In a recent poll conducted by IT NEXT Magazine, telecom major Airtel has ranked the most preferable service provider by IT leaders of the country. The poll was carried on the IT Next site last month, where over 41% of the IT Managers voted in favour of Airtel, given an opportunity, in the era of Number Portability.

The key factors which influenced the decision were network realibility, service commitment and recognition of the brand. Amongst other operators, who are able to make a significant impact in the list includes Vodafone and Tata Docommo, managing 22% and 11% votes respectively.

For late starters, the number portability allows consumers to change their existing operator, while retaining the existing number by paying a specified fee. According to the guidelines issued by Department of Telecommunications, customers will have to pay just Rs 19 to switch operators, with the commitment to stay with the new operator for at least three months.

Over 450 senior IT Managers and experts, from different industry verticles across India, participated in the survey, highlighting a glimpse of the fate of service providers, in the enterprise space, post MNP. The final standing of the survey is as follows:-

  • Airtel (41%)

  • Tata Docommo (11%)
    BSNL/MTNL (7%)
  • Idea (6%)
    Aircel (5%)
