In New Delhi: Essar has selected HPs Converged Infrastructure solution to build a Shared Services environment for selected applications across its group companies. This will allow ESSAR to improve time to market and reduce cost by leveraging a flexible IT model where resources can be provisioned on the fly as per business demand.
Essar Group is a USD 15 billion organisation with interests in Steel, Energy, Power, Communications, Shipping Ports and Logistics and Construction. Essar Information Technology (ETIL) is the Groups Technology service provider. As part of its three year plan, ETIL was looking for a new architectural framework that would allow it to closely align business and IT requirements. In addition, the Group was planning to consolidate its IT infrastructure and build a shared services model that would ensure high return on its IT investments.
Using HPs Converged Infrastructure solution, Essar is enabling a share services model by pooling together all its IT resources into a highly virtualised environment. Specific application templates have been developed to automatically provision resources for every new business user. Businesses can then request IT services on the fly by using a built-in self service portal.
