New Delhi: Cisco has launched the new Linux powered router, Linksys WRT160NL.
According to the company, the router complements the existing Linksys products as it is essentially the next generation of the popular WRT54GL.
WRT160NL is powered by Linux OS. This open platform allows feature additions or enhancements by simply loading customised firmware into the router.
The storage link port lets users connect USB storage devices to the router supports FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS file systems in both read and write mode.
The company claims that the new Linksys product packaging provides more than 40 percent reduction in waste materials compared to the previously offered packaging.
The size of the boxes is reduced, the use of plastic bags is being eliminated where possible and all packaging and internal documents are printed on paper that is made from 80 percent recycled content and vegetable and soy inks are being used.
"In the past we have had many successful Linux powered devices, the WRT54GL being a great example. The WRT160NL is the next advanced step combining Linux OS, 802.11n technology, USB storage link functionality and the improved sleek design," said, Suresh Balasubramanian, National Sales Director, Cisco Consumer Products, India.
The Linux powered, 400Mhz processor is available from company's authorised retailers for a price of Rs 7, 499.
