Indian companies spend more on IT security

The biggest worry for IT heads is the corporate reputation, rather than financial loss, reveals a survey by McAfee

New Delhi: Sensitive corporate data moving across national borders is increasingly exposed to industrial espionage and organised crime, revealed a recent survey of senior IT personnel around the world.

According to an Unsecured Economies Report commissioned by McAfee , the 800 IT chiefs interviewed said that their companies keep approx. $12 million worth of sensitive information abroad. In 2008, these companies had reported a loss of approx. $4.6 million worth of intellectual property.

McAfee CEO Dave DeWalt said, Based on the survey findings, McAfee conservatively estimates that the global damage from data loss to top one trillion dollars." Primary factors that drive this global information business include cost reduction, supply chain partner efficiency, expertise and safety. The bigger worry for most chiefs was the reputation of the company in case the information is lost rather than the financial loss due to it.

According to the survey, developing countries such as India, China and Brazil spend a much larger percentage of their IT budgets on security. Where this percentage was 35% in India, it was 4% in the United Kingdom. Air Jordan IV 4 Retro Denim
