SAP AG announced the globalization of the SAP Mobility Design Center, addressing
increasing demand for custom-built mobile apps that provide consumer-grade
experiences. Originating on the SAP campus in Palo Alto, Calif., operations at the SAP
Mobility Design Center will extend to corporate headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, as
well as company offices in St. Ingbert, Germany; Montreal, Canada; and Bangalore,
India, in order to effectively leverage SAP talent worldwide.
SAP Mobility Design Center has helped customers, including Exxon Mobil to keep up
with the consumerisation of IT trends.
By conceptualizing, designing and building mobile solutions, SAP enables customers to
better connect with their employees and engage with consumers. Mobile solutions are
built using design thinking principles and are based on the end-users perspective from
the beginning of the process, not only at the end for testing.
Companies often lack the time, budget or infrastructure to create mobile solutions that
meet unique business requirements. By expanding the SAP Mobility Design Center,
customers around the world can now engage with SAP to address those challenges.
Using a proven, highly iterative and collaborative design and development process,
companies can get to market quickly with competitively differentiating solutions that
engage and bring value to their end users and consumers.
Customers around the globe will now have the possibility to visit the SAP offices and
collaborate with a team of experts composed of user experience (UX) designers,
architects and developers. First, mock-ups of the solution are created on-the-fly
and validated in collaboration with people who will use the solution. Once the UX is
designed, the mobile solution is then built to integrate smoothly with the existing back-
end application and IT infrastructure. The team is highly focused on quick delivery
of high-value solutions that are designed in line with present business needs and
developed with the SAP future roadmap in mind.
Companies want to increase workforce productivity by enabling them to make fast
decisions at the point of action and bring value to their consumers by offering a
delightful and engaging user experience, said Sanjay Poonen, President, Mobile
Division, SAP. As a leader in enterprise mobility, the SAP Mobility Design Center fulfills
a growing demand for custom-made mobile solutions and offers a smart and easy way
for customers to unwire their business. Design thinking principles and innovative user
experience techniques provide the end user with solutions that are intuitive to use,
while our development methodologies help ensure full integration with the back-end
environments.
Most apps developed at the center are built on the SAP Mobile Platform, offering
flexibility in areas including security options and the ability to develop apps that can be
easily adjusted to run across different mobile device platforms. Additional maintenance
services are offered to accompany and protect the solutions over time.
