New solution aims to deliver right info at right time

HP's enhanced Information Optimization Solutions enable companies to manage, understand and act on 100% of data

HP has announced enhancements to its Information Optimization Solutions portfolio, designed to help organizations capitalize on the explosion of information, including operational, application and machine data.

The extreme volume, variety and velocity of information has placed unprecedented burdens on organizations. According to research conducted on behalf of HP, only 2 percent of business and technology executives said their organizations can deliver the right information at the right time to support the right business outcomes all of the time.

Legacy approaches to information managementwhich rely on outdated information architectures, infrastructure and analyticsfail to discover the concepts and value found in all forms of information. They also are incapable of cost-effectively scaling and processing the oceans of information collected in unstructured, structured and machine data in real time.

These shortcomings are especially evident in an age when changing customer sentiment plays out over Twitter, YouTube, the web, phone calls and emails, much of which happens outside the enterprise walls. This sentiment also can be tracked in the form of foot traffic picked up by sensors in retail outlets.

HP claims to be the only company that can enable organizations to manage, understand and act on 100 percent of information. This is made possible through new HP Converged Infrastructure solutions, as well as technology from Autonomy and Vertica, both HP companies, and HP data management services.

Big data presents big opportunitiesand challengesfor organizations today, said Bill Veghte, chief operating officer, HP. HPs powerful Information Optimization Solutions deliver the technologies and expertise required to help organizations succeed in this new eraby tackling any data type, source or environment. Whether on premise, in the cloud or hybrid, HP offerings allow organizations to turn big data into growth, opportunity and competitive advantage.

Many organizations experiencing dramatic information growth are turning to Apache Hadoop, an open-source, distributed data-processing technology, to meet their needs for storing and managing petabytes of information.

HP AppSystem for Apache Hadoop is the industrys first enterprise-ready appliance that simplifies and speeds deployment while optimizing performance and analysis of extreme scale-out Hadoop workloads. The solution combines HP Converged Infrastructure, common management and advanced integration with Vertica 6 to deliver massive data processing and real-time analytics.
