Capgemini has been selected by the Maharashtra Sales Tax Department (MSTD) to implement a Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse solution. Capgemini won the mandate amidst intense product and vendor evaluation by MSTD to meet their business needs, it said in a media release.
MSTD contributes nearly Rs. 55,000 crore, which is around two-thirds of the total revenue of the State Government, and employs approximately 11,000 personnel. Capgemini will be implementing a Business Intelligence and Data warehousing solution that will enable MSTD to analyze economic parameters to set targets for revenue collection. It will also help the department to expand its existing taxpayer base and prevent revenue loss through tax evasion. The solution offering will also provide decision support across divisions of the MSTD. These initiatives will result in significant optimization of resources, time and effort, thus bringing in considerable business benefits to the department.
Sanjay Bhatia, Commissioner of Sales Tax, said, "MSTD is today the highest revenue generating department for the Government of Maharashtra and administrates various sales acts accountability. This is a very prestigious project for us. With Capgemini's help we want to further improve our capabilities in the interest of the State Government and the public at large. We look forward to a successful venture with Capgemini, thus setting an example for other Indian states to follow. "
Salil Parekh, CEO, Application Services, North America, UK, and Asia Pacific & Global Financial Services, Capgemini, said, "Capgemini has extensive experience in dealing with tax agencies throughout the world. We work collaboratively with our clients to help them reach their business objectives and be customer-centric, efficient and cost-effective.
