RWE IT GmbH, the IT supplier within RWE AG, has joined with Verizon, a global leader in delivering communication, IT security and network solutions, to provide an international network organisation for its customers across the RWE Group. Under a new five year agreement, Verizon will work with RWE IT GmbH to provide a fully managed, end-to-end global communications service, including managed wide area network, local area network, Internet, voice and security solutions.
The agreement will initially cover RWE Supply & Trading GmbH, RWEs energy trading house, and the RWE Groups commodities trading hub. The Verizon solution will provide the company with the infrastructure it needs, with stringent service-level agreements supporting network performance and secure connectivity between its global trading floors.
Michael Neff, RWE ITs CEO, commented: RWE ITs mission is to support the RWE Groups strategic priorities of becoming more sustainable, more international and more robust. Our aspiration is to deliver excellence in technology and business process, and we therefore wanted to identify a partner with not only the geographical reach, technical capabilities, experience and expertise to help support our business growth, but also who shared our commitment to innovation in service delivery.
"Verizon has long been a proponent of the power of technology to change business models and deliver business results", commented Martin Burvill, Verizon's EMEA group vice president. "This new relationship is a great match at every level, but is primarily about delivering a common technology platform to support the global business vision of the RWE Group."
