Naturally it is Motorola Xoom that is first in the line to get the update of Android 3.2. The new OS brings number of enhancements, including optimising of the processors, and improvement in the functionality of the apps. There is ample scope for a richer experience for users. Analysts are now expecting that Android 3.2 Honeycomb powered tablets could flood the market in months to come. This could also lead to a decline in the average price in which tablets are sold.
The SDK (Software Development Kit) for the OS has already become available online. So if you are a developer, you can go to Googles Android page and check it out.
The new OS also features an extended screen support API, which giver developers more precise control over the user interface on a wider rage of Android devices. Then there is the new fill screen mode, which is capable of rendering an application in a smaller screen area and then scaling the pixels to fit a large display. Android 3.2 also has the feature that allows it to load media files directly from the SD card to the applications that use them. The media files can also be accessed from the system media store.
When Google presented its Q2 earnings report recently, CEO Larry Page had announced several Android feats, including more than 250,000 apps offered on the Android Market, over 6 billion app installations since the platform started in 2008, at least 550,000 Android device activations per day, and 135 million active devices worldwide.
