Microsofts secret social networking project

With Google and Facebook engaged in a social networking war, you cant expect Microsoft to watch from the sidelines.

It seems someone at Microsoft accidentally placed a page on the web and that is how the yet to the announced project Tulalip came into the public domain. The project describes itself on the leaked web page as a service that lets users find what you need and share what you know easier than ever. The project then goes on to provide options to list via Facebook and Twitter. Some non-working links for See how it works, Privacy Statement, and Terms of Service, were also visible in the leaked page.

Microsoft quickly took down the leaked page, but by then it had already been noticed by a large number of bloggers. Incidentally, Tulalip is the name of the Native American tribe that lives near Microsofts headquarters in Redmond, Washington. So it is quite possible that the name may continue to be the same even when the project goes public. But many analysts are of the opinion that it will be difficult for a global company like Microsoft to start a social networking project under such an esoteric name.

It is already known that Microsoft has paid up to $2.6 million for the domain Social.com. So what is the social networking service from Microsoft going to be called Tulalip or Social?
