Apple is planning to bring out a new model of iPod Touch that will have the option of allowing users to pop in a 3G SIM card and enjoying connectivity on the go. But even with 3G SIM, the iPod Touch might not feel like a real smartphone, as it lacks a speaker that can place sound into your ear. So you will have to use a speakerphone or attach a headset. The models of the device that are already in the market do not have a GPS chip, and that why it is difficult to deliver any location based services on the iPod Touch.
Some big changes can be expected in the next generation iPod Touch. With the development of iOS 5, Apple is certainly in a position to offer its users two gigantic features: iCloud and iMessage. So we can expect the iPod Touch to have the capability for a broad, cross-device synchronization of apps, music, photos, iBooks, contacts, e-mail, calendar, and documents. A photograph taken on iPod Touch will automatically become available in other Apple devices like iPhone and iPad. The iMessage service could allow users to enjoy free texting between Apple devices.
It is quite possible that the new iPod Touch might turn out to be an awesome device.
According to sources, Apple is likely to release its new iPod Touch in September this year. But in the same month the company is also expected to release its next iPhone. Is it really possible that Apple will bring out two devices iPhone 5 and next generation iPod Touch in the same month? Especially when the two devices could potentially eat into each others market. Perhaps Apple has found a way of differentiating the two devices so that they cater to different audiences.
