The tablet wars are set to get even hotter. Ciscos tablet is expected to hit the market by the end of July or in early August. But it is not going to sell on retail stores; rather it will be available worldwide through Ciscos distribution channels only. Designed specifically for business, Cisco's Android-based Cius tablet features real-time video conferencing, a phone app, IM, chat, email, and a customisable app store.
This device is going be one of the first tablet to be running on Intels latest Atom chip, which is code-named Moorestown. Cius supports WiFi and 3G. A 4G model is expected at a later date. The Cius includes a front-facing camera, which can shoot 720p HD video. There is also a rear-facing 5MP camera. The headset can be connected through the Bluetooth or the micro-USB port.
The 7 inch touchscreen device comes bundled with Ciscos communications and collaboration tools, which will allow users to use video, voice or instant messaging to interact and communicate with colleagues. Cisco is still cagey about the price at which it is going to retail its Cius tablet, but most analysts believe that the price is going to be in the same range as that of tablets from other companies like Apple and Samsung.
