'In the future, Next 100 will be a mandatory criterion for chosing a fresh CIO'
After winning the Next 100 Future CIO title I have earned more respect among my colleagues and even in senior management. It boosted my self confidence and provided me recognition in the organization. As a token of appreciation and recognition I have been selected one among the top 6 outstanding achievers (from the 80000+ employees of HCL) whose profile with photo is showcased in the2011 HCL table calendar. This calendar is sent to all the global customers of the HCL. They have mentioned winning of NEXT 100 Future CIO as the outstanding achievement by me in HCL.
I have taken participation in many surveys and have submitted my views on many topics to IT Next after that event. These surveys/events have given me the opportunities to think on a wider horizon in the IT space which otherwise I wouldnt have thought. I wouldnt have learned or gained information on these topics if I was not part of Next 100. I also like the Daily Newsletter and NEXT Connect, both of these gives very good information about current happenings in the IT Industry.
To be honest, Next 100 is one the most unique innovative concept that provides recognition to Sr IT Managers and helps them stand out of crowd. Due to such a unique identity we are receiving lots of respects from friends, colleagues and even in family. It has given immediate benefit like getting next level promotion but I feel in the long run it will give even higher benefits when we will be giving interviews for the position of CIO in the future. I am sure this award will definitely add lots of value at that time as well. I am even sure that in the future it will serve as mandatory criteria for the organizations to recruit any fresh CIO. On the personal side, I now have a wider friend circle, opportunity to meet many of the likeminded people and a nice photo shoot.
Next 100 thus is an endorsement, through a systematic process, that we have capabilities of becoming CIO in the future and has set the target for the future. Now we know the destination and the kick start has been given but to actually reach there we need to go step by step. These next steps could be going through a learning program that will focus on the elements of CIOs. This will be considered an additional qualification as well (therefore it shouldnt be 2 to 4 week program, it should be 6 months to 2-4 years program to be conducted using the best tools and techniques. Also the most important fact is that this Next 100 should be considered entry criteria for that.
Next step could be providing consulting to some of the SME organization by self volunteering without taking any money from them. Its like individual will get experience and organization will get unbiased fresh view from the expert free of cost. And 9.9 media can be a platform for that as well. Basically its like forming a consortium and then working on real time case studies.
