HTCs tablet launched in India

HTC Flyer is now yet another tablet vying for your money in the already overcrowded market.

The tablet war in India has now one more contender HTC. The Taiwanese handset maker has now launched its Flyer in the country. Based on Android and packed with the new HTC Sense user interface designed for tablets, the Flyer is expected to retail at the princely sum of Rs. 39,890. A unique feature of the device is the stylus, or the magic pen, that comes with it. There is a lot that you can do with the stylus. You can use it on the seven-inch capacitive touchscreen with the flourish of an artist to create your own masterpiece, or you can use it to sign digital documents, and things like that.

HTCs new connected video game service, the HTC watch, is also debuting on the HTC Flyer tablet. This new service enables users to experience cloud-based mobile gaming service on a tablet. HTC Watch also enables users to watch Hollywood blockbusters with relative ease. 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor powers the HTC Flyer, which comes with 1GB of RAM and an internal memory of 32 GB. An expansion slot is available and it comes in the form of a microSD card slot. There is a 5 megapixel camera primary camera and another 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity issues can be dealt with through many modern day options like - WiFi, Edge, Bluetooth and USB.

The device weighs 420 grams with battery and it has Adobe Flash and HTML5 support for fluid video playback. On the whole this seems like a good tablet device, but will it be able to wean users away from the iconic iPad 2? That sort of possibility seems quite remote at the moment. Android OS is still no match for iOS, at least in the tablet space.
