Trend Micro launches cloud security solution

The company is working with government and industry bodies to promote best practices

Trend Micro has launched its virtualisation and cloud security solutions, Deep Security 8.0 and SecureCloud 2.0, in India.

According to Amit Nath, Country Manager (India & SAARC), Trend Micro, this is the first time that a company has come up with hypervisor-level integration for security solutions. The company has partnered with VMware for the same.

Security issues are among the prime concern for enterprises considering cloud computing options, especially for business-critical applications.

Speaking at the launch, Dan Blum, Vice President and Distinguished Analyst, Gartner, said that while standards for cloud computing are still evolving, an organisation can look at some lower risk-use cases and adopt best practices for instance guidance from an industry body such as the Cloud Security Alliance.

Cloud adoption is also affected by competitive factors and choices before certain companies, such as those in the small and medium segment who are constrained by hiring resources and running IT ops themselves.

As per Gartner estimates, by 2014, about 10 per cent of organisations in the world will have adopted cloud email and collaboration services (CECS) what it calls the tipping point of broad-scale adoption.

For its part, Trend Micro is working with several government and industry organisations for educating users on the best practices in cloud security.
