HTC posts better than expected sales numbers

The sales numbers for June indicate that the short-term outlook for the Taiwanese handset maker is rosy.

On Monday, HTCs shares have witnessed a big spurt as a result of the company posting a better than expected monthly sales numbers for June. HTC outperformed the broader market; shooting up by almost 4 per cent. The companys shares also saw largest amount of turnover. The Taiwanese company is the worlds number 5-handset maker.

In the month of June, HTC had been dogged by rumours that the sales numbers for the month might not be good. This had affected the price of shares, which since June 7 had dropped by almost 19 per cent. The sales figures that finally got released put to rest all the rumours about decline in sale of handsets.

However, with competition growing in the handset space, analysts are of the opinion that a tough road lies ahead for HTC. It is expected that this year HTC will ship around 50 million handsets and its earnings price share will be in the range of T$90.
