Hackers breach security at US think tank Stratfor

The group Anonymous, which became famous for its pro-WikiLeaks gestures, is alleged to have claimed responsibility

US security think tank Strategic Forecasting Inc (Stratfor) said its website had been hacked and that some of the names of corporate subscribers had been made public, as per a report by Reuters.

It is believed that activist hacker group Anonymous has claimed responsibility for the breach - the same group that became famous after attacking websites of companies that opposed WikiLeaks or its founder Julian Assange.

"As a result of this incident the operation of Stratfor's servers and email have been suspended," Reuters quotes the Austin-based company as saying in an email.

The report says: "Hackers claiming to be the group Anonymous said they had obtained around 4,000 credit card details, passwords and home addresses on Stratfor's private client list, which was posted on information-sharing website Pastebin."
