New Delhi: Canon India, world leader in digital imaging technology recently announced the appointment of Mr. K Bhashkar as the Director of Office imaging Solution Division (OIS). This B2B business has been one of the major contributors in Canons overall business contributing more than 25% to the Companys revenues in 2010. Mr. Bhashkar will continue to report to Mr. Alok Bharadwaj.
Commenting on the appointment, Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President Canon India, said, "India continues to build strong consumption as well as investment momentum. With sustained 9% GDP growth, we should begin to witness higher level of entrepreneurial depth. India Inc prints & copies over 60 Billion documents a year. This costs `10,000 Cr in a year and growing @ 20% pa. Most of this is inefficiently done. Canon has been handling this biz through teams of Enterprise solutions division for large enterprises & channel network for SME segment through a separate division. As both these businesses represent two ends of the same continuum, Canon plans to merge these businesses under one division called Office imaging Solutions Division. We expect this division to grow revenues by 20% to touch `350 Cr in 2011. This newly formed division will have 162 sales & marketing staff.
Canon had set a new direction to the industry by introducing Managed Document Services (MDS) as an outsourced service from large enterprises in 2010. It acquired contracts from 31 large accounts. We will now leverage this knowledge and experience to extend propositions for SMEs through our widespread and robust channel network of 150 partners. The merged business will help create a unified proposition, He further added.
K Bhashkar brings with him over 15 years of experience in enterprise domain of business solutions. His experience can be leveraged to bring more synergy and build this division to focus now on the medium and small enterprises. Canon will stand to benefit immensely from his rich market experience and will go a long way in helping us gain leadership and increased market share in the Printing domain.
On his new role K Bhashkar said, "I am much honored to be a part of these exciting times and am looking forward to taking up this challenging role and would maintain leadership in A3 copier MFDs and bringing in increased efficiency of document management in the medium & small enterprise and government sectors as well."
The earlier BIS division was divided into Enterprise Solution Division and Channel Sales division with different reporting heads. The divisions separately catered to the enterprise customers and Government sectors with separate divisional heads. This fragmented segment is now integrated under the Office Imaging Solution Division to be led by Bhashkar.
These changes come into immediate effect and have been done keeping in pace with the dynamically changing business scenario in India. Canon India has already announced creation of 2 new business divisions in professional & graphics printing space after its integration with Oce operations in India and appointed separate heads, namely Puneet Datta, who will manage the Production & Professional Printing division, and Rajeev Tewari, who will lead the Wide Format imaging division. A team of 50 sales & service staff is dedicated to the business of professional & graphics printing targeting major companies and printing firms across the nation.
