Canon introduces smart color solutions for SMBs

The company has introduced Image Runner AdvanceC2000 series network multifunctional laser printer

New Delhi: In an attempt to woo Small and Medium Businesses (SMBs), Canon India has introduced Image Runner AdvanceC2000 series network multifunctional laser printer.The company has launched two new models, namely, Image Runner Advance C2020 and 2020H at the price point of Rs. 2.5 lakh onwards. Moreover, two more models will be launched in Q1, 2011.

Canon has invited top50 copier channel partners from across India to provide hands on training on the new range of solution. With this, Canon is pushing a smarter way of color printing solution amongst SMBs.

Besides printers, it has also introduced Image Wear Accounting Manager software. With this software, SMBs' customers can monitor color usage in more controlled and effective way.According to Puneet Datta, Assistant Director Marketing, Canon BIS, As per industry trend, 75% of the IT investments will be done by SMBs. Seeing this as a big opportunity, we have launched our new solutions, with specific focus on prompting color printing. We are emphasizing our channel partners to articulate their SMBs customers that they can use color printing as a business tool. They will see more value addition by printing color invoice, documents etc, which will speed up the payment time.

The company is claiming 30% cost advantage on color printing. SMBs can get color printing at the cost of Rs. 5-6 as compared to standalone color inkjet printer and laser network color printer. Besides cost advantage, SMBs can use color printing in a controlled way by allocating the color printing quota to diffenert departments. At the end of the month, it will generate MIS which can count on usage of color.

As of now, SMBs were using color in an ineffective manner. They were taking color printouts from standalone inkjet or laser printers or getting it outsourced by paying huge amounts of money. "With our Image runner advance we are trying to tell our partners just shift to color with smarter way," said Datta.
On the business model, he said, Its a copier based without cartridges multifunctional solution. We are charging as per pay per click and rest of the consumables and maintenance will be handled by our partners. These printers are 30% cheaper than the existing enterprise range, and most of its features and functions are built as per SMBs requirement.

The new range of solutions will be selling by 160 copier partners located in tier I cities. Currently, Canon has been doing channel expansion in tier II cities. "We have a vision to have 590 resellers in tier II cities. Since, these are premier products, therefore, we are targeting the premier value added resellers, smaller SIs, etc to push new products," said Datta.
