New Delhi: In a recent poll conducted by IT NEXT Magazine, telecom major Airtel has been rated as the most preferable service provider by IT leaders of the country. The poll was carried on the itnext.in website last month, where over 41% of the IT Managers voted in favour of Airtel, in the era of Number Portability.
The key factors which influenced the IT decision makers were network realibility, service commitment and recognition of the brand. Amongst other operators, Vodafone and Tata Docommo madea significant impact, managing 22% and 11% votes respectively.
For late starters, the number portability allows consumers to change their existing operator, while retaining the existing number by paying a specified fee. According to the guidelines issued by Department of Telecommunications, customers will have to pay just Rs 19 to switch operators, with the commitment to stay with the new operator for at least three months.
Over 450 senior IT Managers and experts, from different industry verticles across India, participated in the survey, highlighting a glimpse of the fate of service providers, in the number portability regime.
"In order to give better facilities to its employees, enterprises would consider taking services of single operator who could match all the business requirements of a business entity ," said Rajesh Aggarwal, Manager IT, DP Jindal Group.
The final standing of the survey is as follows:-
