The company shares its plans for the upcoming financial year

New Delhi: Dell leaders today met a cross-section of media to update how the company is aggressively transforming itself to becoming a leading technology solutions provider to Indian customers companies as well as home users in a way that helps them leverage technology to grow and thrive.

Dell, completing a decade in India, became the countrys largest PC vendor in the year 2010 with a market share of 16.7%,  consolidating its leadership in the notebooks segment (27%) while becoming the desktop leader for the first time in Q3 CY2010 (9.8%) ( As per IDC Q3 PC Pulse Tracker).

Ganesh Lakshminarayanan, President Dell India, emphasized, Our leadership in the hardware PC business offers us a great opportunity to engage in close conversations with our customers across different segments to understand their needs and provide them with the right kind of technology solutions. With revamped product lines, we continue to cater to the specific requirements for each segment corporate, small businesses, mobile professionals, GenY, gamers and more. At the same time, we have acquired new global capabilities in services and solutions to focus on emerging technology trends such as cloud and mobile computing with special focus on growth markets such as mid-sized businesses and emerging, fast-growing economies like India.

With continued investments by the government in Government - citizen projects like UID, NREGA, NeGP, ICT etc., there is a great opportunity for Dell to engage closely and bring our learnings and best practices from around the world into strengthening implementation here. Highlights of 2010:

  • Dell entered the smartphones segment with XCD28 and XCD35, its first value-smartphones for emerging markets, debuting in India.
  • The new reinvigorated XPS line of products heralded the return of the XPS brand to deliver high-quality multimedia with JBL speakers, aimed at creating compelling consumer experiences. It is the industrys first Skype-certified laptop range with HD-video streaming webcams to stay close to your friends and family.
  • Dell continued to create new benchmarks in the gaming segment with its Alienware offerings. It launched the first 2ND Generation Intel Core processor laptop with the new Alienware M17x and also the first Alienware Gaming Zone and exclusive retail store in India, bringing 3D gaming to Bangalore.
  • Dell expanded its SMB-dedicated PC range with the launch of Vostro V130, a durable, high-quality laptop designed to give small businesses style and substance.
  • Dell entered the printer category by introducing a comprehensive range of printing devices for home offices, small and medium businesses and workgroups. The range of printers being launched include the 1250C, the worlds smallest single-function A4 color laser-class printer and a host of monochrome printers including the multifunction 1133 and single-function printers - 2230d, 1130, 1130n, 2330d, 2330dn.
  • Dell expanded its cloud-based services portfolio to simplify IT management and reduce costs with SaaS solutions.
