PayPal prez in the running for Yahoo CEO: report

Yahoo is poised to name a CEO and Scott Thompson is said to be a prime candidate

04 January 2012

The website AllThingsD.com quotes sources as saying that Yahoo is about to announce a new CEO.

It further said that a dark horse not named in previous reports is supposed to make it, which, could well be PayPal President Scott Thompson, who runs eBay’s massive online payments unit. Nothing is, of course, confirmed as yet.

Yahoo, once a web giant and one that still has a huge presence but has allegedly been in management and existential trouble for some time,  fired its last CEO Carol Bartz in September. The company has been run by the board and also interim CEO Tim Morse, who had previously been its CFO.
