New Fujitsu server 'shows' power consumption

On the Primequest servers, IT managers can use the bundled software to visualise power consumption

16 November 2011

Fujitsu India has launched the new Primequest 1000 series high-performance mission-critical x86 server for enterprise database, application, cloud and virtualization environments.

The Primequest 1800E2 features Intel Xeon processor E7 family. It is certified for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Oracle Solaris, Oracle Virtual Machine, Microsoft Windows Server, and VMware vSphere. So it offers optimal and highly-reliable multi-OS server infrastructures for enterprise private cloud implementations. The 1800E2 also meets Fujitsu's stringent green environmental assessment standard, and has been certified as a 'Fujitsu super green product'.

Features of Primequest 1000 Series

1.    Reliability and Availability
a.    Hardware Redundancy - A redundant configuration of internal components, including the power supply unit and cooling fan, in addition to memory mirroring, helps support the continuous operation of users' business services.

b.    Hardware Partitioning – The Primequest supports upto four electrically isolated hardware partitions. In the event that a system board fails during operation, the affected partition will automatically reboot and swap to a backup system board, helping companies to quickly restore their business services.

c.   "Flexible I/O" Functionality - allows users to freely combine numerous system boards mounted with CPUs and memory chips with various I/O units, which are equipped with PCI cards and external interfaces, to create a partitioned system structure.

2.    Performance and Scalability
a.   High-performance CPUs and Abundant Memory - Each partition can accommodate two high-performance Intel Xeon E7 CPUs, as well as either 512 GB or 1 TB of memory, providing ample processing power for handling massive applications, such as large-scale corporate database systems.

b.   On the two-tier SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) standard application benchmark, the 1800E2 model has achieved the world-record result of 24,000 SAP SD benchmark users on Windows.

3.    Eco-Friendly ICT
a.    Visualization of Power Consumption - A server management unit (MMB: Management Board) comes standard, allowing users to visualize the status of the server's power supply unit. In addition, the ServerView Operations Manager software assists users in making the server's power consumption visible.

b.    Completely Lead Free - All solder used in mounting electrical components to the server's printed circuit boards, such as the system board, is lead free. The series is compliant with the EU's RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive, and other environmental protection laws and regulations around the world.

c.   The Primequest 1000 series is being offered as a leading environment friendly product based on the Fujitsu Group's green assessment guidelines.
