Guess which firm is world's 7th greenest? It's TCS

Greenpeace may have campaigned against Tata's Dhamra port, but that hasn't kept green accolades away from this Tata firm

20 October 2011

US magazine Newsweek has ranked TCS as the world’s 7th greenest company in its Green Rankings 2011.

In addition, TCS is the highest ranked Asia-based company and second highest ranked globally in the Information Technology & Services company category.

Newsweek’s Green Rankings assess each company’s environmental footprint, management of that footprint, and transparency. The Green Rankings focus on the largest publicly traded companies in America and worldwide. Each list consists of the largest 500 companies by revenue (most recent fiscal year), market capitalization, and number of employees as of June 30, 2011.

TCS is well-known in the technology circles for its optimal use of resources and other good sustainable practices.

In the words of CEO & MD  N Chandrasekaran, “TCS’s corporate sustainability efforts are focused on the four dimensions around the world – workplace, environment, community, and marketplace. The first three are how TCS is focused on increasing our own greening as a company and the fourth one is how we influence our clients to be more green.”
